After the Lenovo Legion Go, the company has now launched the Legion Go 2 premium flagship handheld gaming PC/console. In both these models, you get AMD’s special Ryzen Z2 & Z2 Extreme APU, which AMD has specially designed for handheld gaming PCs/consoles. This chip really gives you the same power as a discrete graphics card installed in a gaming laptop, and that too in just 28W TDP. However, before Lenovo, ASUS had launched its ROG Ally X handheld gaming console with AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme.

Let’s find out who should buy this Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 premium gaming console/PC, or should you go for a gaming laptop? Design:

The updated Legion ColdFrost thermal system, which features a larger radiator and dual heat pipes, improves airflow by 45% compared to the previous Lenovo Legion Go. The fan blades are also larger, but the noise level is still low. The buttons on the earlier detachable controllers have been rearranged.

If your hands get tired, you can comfortably place the Lenovo Legion Go 2 on your desk, connect its separate controller to the controller base, and play games thanks to the sturdy kickstand at the back of the device.

Further, the controller’s ergonomic shape provides hours of gaming, and its extremely soft build doesn’t leave fingerprints or scratches to concern oneself with. The only available color for this console is Eclipse Black. This console is approximately 920 grams in weight.

At the back of the Lenovo Legion Go 2, you get a kickstand with a sturdy build, so if your hands get tired, you can comfortably place the Legion Go 2 on the desk and connect its separate controller to the controller base and do gaming.

Display:

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 features an 8.8″ OLED panel with a resolution of 1920 X 1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This display panel comes with DCL-P3, which means you get vibrant color representation with accurate color reproduction. Talking about brightness, you get a bright screen of 500 nits and 1000 nits at peak. This display supports 10 touch points along with VRR and is VESA True Black 1000 Certified.

If we talk about the features, you get Detachable Legion TrueStrike Controllers, in which you get many modes like Handheld Mode, FPS Mode, Console Mode, Controller Base, Hall Effect Joysticks, and Large Pivot D-Pad.

You are given two 2W super immersive speakers on both sides of the Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 and also given volume buttons on the side of the speaker. You have a fingerprint sensor inside the power button on the top side, due to which you can log in securely and fast.

CPU:

The most important part of any computer is the processor; the computing power of any computer depends on it. This Lenovo Legion Go 2 Handheld Gaming Console has a powerful and power-efficient chip from AMD. AMD has designed it specially for handheld consoles. This chip is based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. In AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, you get 8 cores and 16 threads. Yes, the architecture of the processor is a bit tricky, like it has 3 cores of Zen 5 and 5 cores of Zen 5c architecture, which means Zen 5 has 3 cores whose boost clock is up to 5 GHz, and Zen 5c has the remaining 5 cores with a boost clock up to 3.3 GHz, and the base clock of both Zen 5 and Zen 5c is the same, 2 GHz. it has L2 Cache 8 MB and L3 Cache 16 MB The special thing about this AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip is that it is an APU, which means you also have an iGPU in this chip; we will talk about it later. The power consumption of this total chip is 28 W by default, but AMD Configurable TDP (cTDP) is 15-35 W, which is quite low.

GPU:

The most important thing for gaming on any gaming console or gaming PC is the graphics card. A discrete graphics card cannot be installed in any gaming console; for this reason, the company goes with an APU, and in today’s era, the performance of integrated graphics has become very good. For example, in the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, you get the powerful Radeon 8060S iGPU, which is RDNA 3.5-based. In it, you get 40 graphics cores of up to 2900 MHz, which gives graphics performance as much as the Nvidia RTX 4070 Laptop.

In this AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, you also get the same RDNA 3.5-based 890M integrated graphics, for which you get a total of 16 graphics cores, which allows you to do 1200p smooth gaming. This iGPU gets boosted up to 2900 MHz. The special thing is AMD HYPER-RX, enabling one-click enhancements like FSR and AFMF for boosted FPS and visuals, all in a handheld.

When it comes to video memory, the AMD Ryzen Z2 variant of Legion Go Gen 2 with AMD Ryzen Z2 has 16 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory that is clocked at 7500 MHz, and the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme variant has 32 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory that is clocked at 8000 MHz. The iGPU shares this memory.

RAM:

In Legion Go 2, you get a total of two memory options. With the AMD Ryzen Z2 variant, you are given 16 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory, which is clocked at 7500 MHz, and with the Legion Go Gen 2 with AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, you are given 32 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory, which is clocked at 8000 MHz.

Storage:

In the Legion Go 2, you get a 1 TB/2 TB PCIe SSD, but here, Lenovo has not clarified which generation NVMe SSD has been given to you, and if you want to increase the storage, then you can put up to a 2 TB SD card in it.

Connectivity:

For wireless connectivity, you get WiFi 6E in the Lenovo Legion Go 2, and Bluetooth 5.3 is provided, with which you can dock your Legion Go Gen 2 and connect controllers plus headsets seamlessly.

IO-Ports:

In the Lenovo Legion Go 2, you get 2 USB4 ports, which provide 40 Gb/s data transfer speed; a headphone/mic combo jack; DisplayPort™ 1.4 with Power Delivery 3.0 for display out; and lastly, a MicroSD card reader is provided.

Battery:

You get a 4-cell 74 WHr battery in the Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2, which is more than the older Legion Go which had only a 49.2 WHr battery.

Price:

If we talk about the price, the variant of Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2 with the AMD Ryzen Z2 chip is priced at $1099.
