AMD has launched its most powerful workstation AI GPU ever, the Radeon AI Pro R9700, the best GPU for custom workstation builders!

AMD unveiled its powerful workstation AI GPU Radeon AI Pro R9700 at Computex & has now launched it. This GPU is made only for AI developers, as more memory is important for AI workstations. But if we look at it, you get the same chip in the Radeon AI Pro R9700 GPU & AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT gaming GPU, only you get double VRAM.

Earlier it was heard that this AMD R9700 will be available only in OEM prebuilt PCs, but now you will get to see R9700 GPUs from all OEM partners like Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX, and Yeston.

Key specifications of Radeon AI Pro R9700:

  • Architecture: AMD RDNA 4 (Navi 48)
  • Compute Units: 64 (with 2nd-gen AI accelerators)
  • Memory: 32 GB GDDR6, 256-bit, up to 20 Gbps
  • Cache/BW: 64 MB Infinity Cache, up to 640 GB/s
  • Clocks (AIB sample): Up to ~2920 MHz boost (varies by model)
  • Bus/Power: PCIe 5.0 ×16, 12V-2×6 connector
  • Display: 4× DisplayPort 2.1a
  • Cooler: Blower-style (varies by vendor)

The R9700 GPU is going to be the 1st choice of AI workstation builders:

And anyway, all the GPUs used in workstations have a single blower fan design. One of the main reasons for this is that these GPUs are installed in server systems, due to which this blower fan is provided in them. Due to this design, the GPU is slim; however, the thickness of this GPU is as much as 2 slots, due to which you can install multiple GPUs in one system with a 4-way multi-GPU configuration using the modern-day PCIe 5.0 platform.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 Memory:

This GPU is designed for specific AI professionals like generative design & ML engineers who wish to tune or operate large-scale local LLMs, natural language processing, text-to-image creation, and multimodal models without the lag of the cloud—or require multi-GPU scaling within a workstation enclosure. 3D/DCC post-production facilities combining rendering, denoising, and AI-enabled tools on numerous monitors and applications. Hence, you need massive video memory, so you get 32 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, a 256-bit memory bus, and a peak bandwidth of 644.6 GB/s.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 Core:

If we talk about on-paper specifications, AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 is going to be a GPU based on Navi 48 architecture. You get a total of 4096 cores (shader units), 256 TMUs (texture mapping units), 128 ROPs, 128 matrix cores, and 64 compute units along with 64 RT cores (ray accelerators). L2 cache is 8 MB, and L3 cache is 64 MB. If we look at the total transistors, there are 53,900 million transistors.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 Clock Speed:

If we look at the clock speed, you get a base clock of 1660 MHz, a game clock of 2350 MHz, and a boost clock of 2920 MHz.
If we look at the memory clock, you get an effective speed of 2518 MHz, i.e., around 20.1 Gbps.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 Power Draw:

The rated TBP (Total Board Power) of AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 is 300W, for which a 1×16-pin power connector is provided; a minimum PSU of 700W is recommended for this GPU.

Radeon AI Pro R9700 Price:

If we talk about the price of the AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700, then you can get it from 1225 USD to 1325 USD on different retail sites. All these prices are inclusive of taxes.
