The GMKtec EVO X3 Mini workstation has been launched; sales will start on July 6, 2026. Now we’ll have to see what the price of its base configuration will be, because there is currently a memory crisis going on. Apple has increased the prices of almost all its devices, but it seems like GMKtec might not increase the prices of its mini PC.
You must know that GMKtec is a Chinese mini-PC manufacturing company which was founded in 2019.
Many mini PCs from GMKtec are already famous because you get better price-to-performance with this brand. These mini PCs from this brand are also famous on Amazon USA and in other countries.
The GMKtec EVO X3 will come with AMD’s famous Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 superchip, and it is being heard that you might soon get a new variant of the EVO-X3 which will launch with AMD’s new Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 ultra-powerful superchip. But the special thing about this variant will be that it will have a massive 192GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, out of which around 160GB can be utilised as VRAM.

We will see what other special and unique features the GMKtec EVO X3 will offer. For instance, it comes with OCulink Expansion, which allows you to connect an eGPU.

Design:
If we talk about the design, this GMKtec EVO X3 Mini AI workstation looks like a smaller version of the Gigabyte Aorus RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX (eGPU), but it’s even slimmer and smaller. Its width is only 41 mm, and its chassis is made of CNC-cut metal, giving it a premium and unique look. For cooling, it comes with a total of three silent fans.

CPU:
The EVO X3 is launching with the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 but will soon be available with the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495.
Talking about the processor, the EVO X3 comes with AMD’s most famous chip from the Ryzen 300 series Strix Halo lineup, the powerful superchip, the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395, which is an APU based on the Zen 5 architecture. If we talk about the CPU, you get 16 cores and 32 threads.
The base clock speed of this CPU is 3.0 GHz, and the max turbo boost clock is 5.1 GHz. The Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 comes with 64 MB of L3 cache memory. In terms of power consumption, the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 consumes around 45W to 140W. The cool thing is that this superchip is an APU, so it also comes with a powerful iGPU, which we’ll check out.
GPU:
In the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, you get the Radeon RX 8060S iGPU, which is really powerful. It’s based on Strix Halo Graphics RDNA 3.5 and gives you a total of 40 compute units and 2560 cores (shading units). The Radeon 8060S graphics have a base clock of 1295 MHz and a boost clock of 2900 MHz. Thanks to the integrated GPU, roughly 96 GB of the superfast 128 GB 8000MHz LPDDR5X system memory will be shared with the iGPU, which is a good thing. You get 256GB of bandwidth.
This Radeon RX 8060S iGPU delivers performance almost equal to the Nvidia RTX 4070 (laptop), which means you can comfortably do 4K and 8K video editing. As for gaming, the EVO X3 mini AI workstation isn’t specifically designed for gaming, but since it has a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and 128GB LPDDR5X onboard 8-channel LPDDR5X unified memory, you can easily game at 1080p on high settings and 1440p on mid settings. However, if you’re thinking of getting the EVO X3 for gaming, there are a lot of other options with the same chip available, like the Acemagic Tank M1A Pro, AOKZOE Gaming Console, and Bosgame M5. This iGPU draws up to 55W at peak, meaning the chip roughly draws between 45W and 140W.
The special thing about the GMKtec EVO X3 is that it comes with OCulink Expansion (PCIe Gen4x4), which means you can connect an RTX 40/50 series eGPU (external GPU) and increase your graphic computing power.
NPU:
You have been given the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 XDNA 2 NPU, which has a capacity of 50 TOPS, though the total capacity of this chip is 126 TOPS, which gives you extreme AI compute power. This AMD Strix Halo chip was made for high-end laptops, but it’s proving to be a blessing for high-end mini PC workstations because it gives you better performance than Apple’s latest M4 Pro and M4 Max.

GMKtec EVO X3 Memory/Storage:
Currently, this GMKtec EVO X3 Mini AI Workstation comes with only one memory option, which is 128GB onboard 8-channel LPDDR5X super-fast RAM clocked at 8000 MHz, which is super fast. Normal LPDDR5 RAM gives you around 5500 Mbps speed, whereas LPDDR5X offers up to 8000 Mbps super-fast speed. Out of the 128GB memory it has, up to 96GB is dedicated solely to the iGPU.
And soon you’ll get a new variant of the EVO-X3, which will launch with AMD’s new Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 ultra-powerful superchip; that variant will give you a massive 192GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, out of which around 160GB will be used as VRAM.
If we talk about storage, the EVO-X3 AI Workstation gives you 2 TB and 4 TB storage options, which include four M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 meaning you can expand storage up to 16 TB. If you already have an M.2 SSD, this would be better for you, because right now SSD prices have gone really high.
EVO-X3 Wireless Connectivity:
For wireless connectivity, the EVO-X3 Mini PC comes with high-speed seventh-generation WiFi 7 (RZ717), which gives you up to 2.9 Gbps wireless speed, along with lightning-fast Bluetooth 5.4 that gives you the fastest speed with extended range.
Connectivity & Ports:
On the front side of the EVO X3, you get the power button along with two USB 4.0 Type-A ports and a 3.5MM headphone jack. On the back side, there’s an RJ45 LAN port, a USB Type-A port, a 2.1 HDMI (4k 160Hz) + USB 4.0 Type-C PD 100W (dual output up to 8k) power socket, and most importantly an OCuLink port (PCIe Gen 4×4), which lets you connect an external desktop graphics card.
Opinion and Price:
If you’re a developer who runs or tests large language models, the GMKtec EVO X3 should be your first choice because it comes with GMKtec Claw+ Wrangler, which means no cloud dependency, i.e., complete offline capability. You also get a 24/7 AI agent and a local interface with zero token cost.
You will be able to run this GMKtec EVO X3 on Windows 11 Pro/Linux/Ubuntu, and with the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 3950 super chip, you can do a lot of powerful work, like 3D rendering and video production.
If we talk about the price, the 2TB storage one is available for 3600 USD, and the 4TB storage The GMKtec EVO X3 is available for 3,849 USD. On GMKtec’s official site, you are getting a $20 early bid discount.
